Spy 4.0

Spy 4.0 is under development. It's going to be build on top of Spy 3.x.. Spy is free and will always be. In addition Spy 4.0 will be open source.

Because of licensing issues with some part of the code, Spy 3.0 cannot be put on sourceforge, that's why the code currently there is non functional. I'm working on it.

What is it?

Spy is a useless little tool that sucks up a tiny amount of the CPU time to display some info about your system load. Spy is as unobtrusive as possible. Its original goal was to take less screen space than the Mac OS X utility CPU Monitor. It does so by lodging itself in the menu bar.

As of today Spy displays two kind of information, your CPU load and your network load.

Features

Support the Griffin PowerMate, try the pulse mode, my favorite, where the pulse get faster as your CPU load increase. Especially useful to see the CPU usage while you are playing your favorite FPS game...

Spy displays the CPU load for your processors using a cute little circle. The inner circle shows your kernel load, the outer circle the user load. There is black, grey and red on the circle, each color representing different data.

The network load is represented by two arrows, for the inbound and outbound traffic for your computer. The arrows sizes are relative to the amount of traffic going over the wire (or wireless).

Spy is fully localized in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Dutch and Japanese. It is partially localized in Swedish and Norwegian, I need your help to make them complete.

Bugs and feature requests

If you want to submit a bug or a feature request please use the sourceforge facilities to do so. You can also send me an email, but it is more likely to be lost, buried under the hundreds of emails I receive everyday. To make sure your request is considered, it is better to use the sourceforge facilities:

Documentation

The documentation for Spy is included in the disk image you download. Make sure you read it, as it explains in detail what Spy is doing.
